USES:   Sodium cryolite is used in the smelting of aluminium, production of enamels, used in friction coated linnings, and in specialty glasses used to manufature light bulbs. Cryolite also has uses in the pyrotechnic industry.
 
HANDLING:   Avoid breathing dust. Avoid getting in eyes or on skin. Wash thoroughly after handling. Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight, heat and incompatible materials. Reseal containers immediately after use. Store away from food and beverages. Overexposure may cause fluorosis, which is a condition affecting the bones and teeth.
